Designing enjoyable workspaces

Lightwave International & Glenzeil have recently completed the Design & Construction for Centrepoint Alliance’s Queensland Head Office situated in Bundall on the Gold Coast. It spans over approximately 1200m2 on Level 13&14 of Corporate Centre Tower No1, with stunning 360 degrees views over the Pacific Ocean, Broadwater & Gold Coast Hinterland.

Together with a young and enthusiastic Project Team which included members from various departments of the Financial Services Company, Lightwave accomplished the head to toe refurbishment for the entire Workspace, bringing it in line with the current office trends of open plan, informal breakout spaces and a fresh makeover to achieve an active and flexible platform for increased productivity and team bonding.

General and specific requirements were carefully analized to satisfy the work & recreational needs of each Department down to each employee, while parallely adjusting to the budget.

The Reception offers a peaceful area with its blend of clean white stone, warm timber running all the way through the counter, columns and coffered ceiling, gold and amber hues, a wall mounted Fish Tank behind the counter, all of this while offering clear views above the skyline, water and lush parklands.

Much effort was put into the Recreational Areas which are not segregated into closed off rooms but, on the contrary, become part of the entire environment allowing fluidity of space and better “on the move” use.

The stand-out feature of the fitout is definitely the Multi-Purpose Room / Main Kitchen Area, which occupies about ¼ of the workspace on Level 13. Black matt ceilings with exposed services, dark chocolate stones, shades of red and orange together with timber features, contributed to create the desired ambience of a young and industrial type space utilized not only for meals and breaks, but also for conferences. Two meeting rooms split or merged by an operable wall, face straight into the Multi-Purpose Room again, via an operable wall, which allows for diverse space fruition. A highlighted green carpet oval connects this space to the rest of the open plan working area hosting a putting hole for quick Mini-Golf challenges keeping the staff entertained.

On an overall point of view, the final fitout encourages collaboration within and between teams, with an intelligent and flexible use of space.

Enclosures with added privacy for managerial staff and private Meeting Rooms are still present but kept to minimum requirements in order to still prioritize interaction and visual connection.
