Robina Community Performing Arts Centre

Creating a remarkable community performing arts centre

Robina State School'sCommunity Performing Arts Centre, an architectural marvel that showcases the best of education design on the Gold Coast. Our team was entrusted with the task of creating a versatile and captivating space that would serve as a focal point for both the school and the wider community.

Drawing upon our expertise in performance venue design, we meticulously crafted a building that seamlessly integrates with the unique characteristics of the sloping site while prioritising acoustic considerations. The main building, strategically positioned along an East to West axis, maximises natural light and ventilation.

Thoughtfully designed louvre banks inside the facility capture prevailing breezes, while high-level windows further enhance airflow. A breezeway along the northern face takes advantage of gentle winds flowing from the adjacent oval.

Our design approach focused on harmonising the existing structures with the new additions, striking a balance between private and public spaces. This careful integration earned the Robina Community Performing Arts Centre, and Lightwave Architecture, prestigious accolade in 2010. Receiving a Commendation in the Public Architecture category at the State and Regional Australian Institute of Architecture Awards.
