Mount Cotton State School
An engaging hub with a distinct evening presence
Grindley Constructions partnered with our education architecture team to deliver the Mt Cotton resource centre and multi-purpose hall project, showcasing our expertise in education design and construction. Located in the beautiful suburb of Mount Cotton in Redlands, Queensland, this project exemplifies our commitment to creating exceptional education environments in the South East Queensland region.
As experienced school architects, we understand the unique needs of education campuses and buildings. Our design for the resource centre and multi-purpose hall were part of the Building the Education Revolution funding initiative. Our primary goal was to provide a cost-effective solution that met the strict guidelines set by the Department of Education while delivering a customised product tailored to the school’s specific requirements.
The use of high impact transparent sheets and solid timber pivot doors in the hall not only allows for the distribution of natural daylight and controlled ventilation but also creates a visually striking nighttime presence. These design choices, in line with educational architecture principles, provide a captivating identity for the hall, setting it apart as a landmark within the school and the wider community.
The resource centre, connected to the hall through a beautifully landscaped courtyard, serves as the vibrant heart of the school. Designed with strategic window placements and thoughtful plan adjustments, the centre offers flexible and inviting spaces that seamlessly integrate with the main pathways of the school. This playful and functional building enhances the learning experience and fosters a sense of community within the campus.
