14 Merlot Court

A duplex family house in Tweed Heads
This duplex exemplifies a refined modernist approach, characterized by a composition of interlocking rectilinear volumes articulated through a contrasting material palette of smooth white stucco, vertical metal cladding, and exposed brick. The asymmetrical massing responds to the sloped topography, allowing each unit to maintain a distinct architectural identity while remaining cohesive through shared design language. Large apertures and strategic overhangs provide abundant natural light and passive shading, reinforcing a strong connection to the subtropical landscape. The building’s orientation and terraced siting not only optimise cross-ventilation and views but also establish a dynamic dialogue between built form and terrain.
