- William Duncan State School

Listen, understand and create a superior product on a tight budget

When William Duncan approached us to create a multipurpose hall, they had one main stipulation – deliver it on an extremely tight budget as it was being funded directly by the school.

Previous concepts had been priced way over budget and we were asked to deliver a similar product at a reduced cost.

Careful understanding of the core requirements and simplifying the structural system allowed us to develop a concept that achieved more than the previous scheme at the reduced cost.

Considered placement of openings and site layout ensured natural cross ventilation sufficient to eliminate any need for costly air-conditioning.

Working with the natural contours of the site and opening the side of the hall, a natural grassed amphitheatre was created that faces back onto the school and spills off the main breezeway down the side of the hall.
