Education - Undurba State School
Clever design affords additional usable areas
Undurba State School was another school to receive funding through the BER program – for a resource centre, STIC, computer lab and new classrooms.
The school was involved in the design process and the result of the collaboration is two buildings which are multi-storied. The space between the buildings became the critical area. A covered outdoor learning area (at entry to resource) overlooks a two storey covered space to the lower level, which is the entry to the classrooms and computer lab. This activates the central space and forms the end point to the school network.
Careful manipulation of space provides a layering of activities and adds additional usable areas between the buildings – effectively increasing the functionality for the same budget.
