Education - Gaven State School
A once unusable space has been transformed into an activity and performance hub
Situated on a very steep site, the hall and associated multi-media rooms were split over two storeys to create a double height covered entry as the focal point to the project. With views through this space, a previously lacking visual connection between the school and the oval was created. The site required significant resolution to connect the school level with the hall and access to the oval.
By utilising the steep nature of the site, an outdoor grassed ampi-theatre was created as a linking space down to the hall with maintenance storage an additional bonus under the stage.
A close working relationship between Lightwave Architectural, the client and other disciplines allowed a combined level of expertise to overcome a challenging site and in turn transform an unusable space into an asset for the school.
