Lightwave Director, Chris Collier, was a guest presenter at the 12th Annual CEFPI Conference held at the Marriott Hotel on the Gold Coast in June. Chris was asked to discuss the Lightwave designed Enterprise Centre at Southport State School as part of the conference’s theme on shaping learning environments to meet the needs of the learner.

CEFPI is a professional association whose sole mission is to improve the places where children learn, and bring together both international and local speakers to promote global thinking within a local context. They believe no community can build a school in isolation or without the participative work of all stakeholders, including architects, and all of whom contribute to the development of quality learning environments. CEFPI are also actively involved in planning, designing, building, equipping and maintaining learning environments that centre a community and enhance student achievement.

The Enterprise Centre fit the theme due its function as an integrated hub of private and public domains, where inside merges with outside in a state of the art facility. It incorporates a commercial quality kitchen, conference rooms, dining space and classrooms with a multi-purpose and adaptable enclave. The Enterprise Centre is a well thought out building which serves the school’s requirements whilst providing quality spaces for community use.
